Zip’s Truck Showcase: Monarch Towing, Longmont, CO

If you’re travelling through Colorado and break down or get stuck north of Denver, chances are the purple and white trucks from Monarch Towing will be on the call to help you out. Based out of Longmont, owner Casey Jones has been serving this area near the foothills of the Rockies since he founded the company more than 10 years ago.

Located 45 minutes north of downtown Denver, Casey started Monarch in 2015 with just one truck. He now has a fleet of light-duty wreckers and car carriers. Besides towing and recovery, his company also provides roadside assistance to stranded motorists, including—among many other services—EV issues, jump starts and tire changes.

Casey said he credits his proximity to Denver for his company’s growth and for the variety of services they offer. From the beginning, Monarch has worked with Zip’s and equipment sales specialist Trent Russler on building their fleet and outfitting each truck with the right equipment to make their operators successful out in the field.

“We found Zip’s right off the bat and began working with Trent right away,” Casey explained at the Las Vegas tow show in April. “They made the process of purchasing a truck really easy for us. Trent walked us through the whole thing, and Zip’s was able to provide financing and got us into a good, reliable truck. They have made the process super easy for us.”

As the latest entry in our Customer Spotlight series, Monarch Towing has purchased 13 trucks from Zip’s over the past decade. The current fleet includes a row of Freightliner rollbacks and a couple of Ram 5500 auto loader light-duty wreckers. All trucks are custom painted to reflect company branding. He said the custom touches by Zip’s sets his company apart.

“They put additional equipment on like side pullers and back-up cameras. Pretty much any accessories we want to add, Zip’s will put them on there for us,” Casey said. “Trent’s always willing to answer a text and work with any change orders that we have. He's really quick to respond to us with our requests.”

Casey said the equipment upgrades and professional appearance in the public helps with customer relations and employee retention. Each new truck is custom built by Zip’s, and the driver assigned to it is typically sent out to their production facility in New Hampton, IA, to pick the new unit up.

“We're the only towing company in our area with our paint scheme on our trucks, so they really stand out, especially the shiny wheels and the shiny paint,” Casey said. “We fit our trucks specifically for our drivers and upfit them with nice interiors. As a result, our drivers enjoy the trucks a little bit more, so they take care of them more.”

During their visits to the main campus at Zip’s, Casey said his drivers feel like they get the red-carpet treatment, including complimentary overnight lodging accommodations in the on-site guest suite and one-on-one facility tours. Personal touches like those are why he appreciates the relationship he’s built with Zip’s over his 11 years in business, and that’s why he remains loyal to Zip’s.

“It’s not just Trent either. It’s the whole team involved,” Casey said. “From truck sales all the way down to any merchandise that we need to purchase or any additional equipment we need to order, everybody is always so willing to help. I can call Jen at the front desk, and she knows us by name, so I don't even have to tell her who we are anymore.”
